Packing List: 4 Days in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

I go to Cabo a lot…I’ve already been 3 times in 2022 and it’s only April! We’re working on buying a house there (that will be a whole section of the blog one day when I’m ready) and I’ve got packing down to a science.

I’m #teamcarryon and refuse to check a bag, which isn’t hard when you’re a) going to the beach and b) only traveling for 4 days.

So, what did I pack, and where did I get it?

All the clothes I packed for a trip to Cabo – and I didn’t wear them all

3 maxi dresses

I wore one maxi on the plane (I always wear a maxi on the plane if I can help it…no bare skin touching the seat, and they usually feel like pajamas)!

The tie dye dress is a thrifted Calvin Klein, and all the other dresses are from Amazon.

I wore this one to dinner at Tamarindo
I wore this on the plane with a jean jacket

2 short dresses

I barely wore these, and could have done without them, but I do love them. Both are from Amazon.

This one is sexy but not over the top, even with a DDD cup
This one could not be more comfortable. It pulled a little on the chest, but again…DDD cups.

3 swimsuits + 1 cover up

My 3 swimsuits are also from Amazon. The blue is my favorite, because it’s flattering and a tankini, which makes using the bathroom easier. Runner-up is the one-piece because it’s very flattering. The leopard print has an adorable back but the chest doesn’t quite look right on me.

This one is gorgeous and very flattering
The top on this one is very flattering
The back on this top is adorable but the cups aren’t quite big enough for me

What else I packed

  • 1 pair of pajamas
  • 1 black jean shorts + 1 tshirt (didn’t wear these)
  • 1 black romper
  • toiletry case
  • hair dryer / straightener combo
  • 1 sweater – a sweater in Mexico?! Yes, you often need a sweater, especially in the winter months
  • 1 jean jacket, worn on the plane
  • 2 pairs of flat sandals + 1 pair of sandals worn on the plane

Beach Vacation Packing Tips

I travel a lot, and I do my utmost to keep it to a carry on so that I’m not waiting around for bags when I reach my destination. Here are my best tips for packing light:

Stick to a color family

As you can see from this photo, everything I packed was black, white, or blue, with the exception of the red dress. This makes it easier to re-use shoes and accessories.

Bring the jacket

I have never regretted bringing a sweater or jacket, sometimes both. I knew I’d have plenty of room on such a short trip, so I brought both and was happy I did. There’s nothing worse than freezing at dinner.

Use packing cubes

Packing cubes are my top tip for packing to go anywhere, because you can fit so much more in a suitcase with them! They also help keep everything organized, which is a huge help. I use the cubes from EBags.

The set of packing cubes from EBags comes in multiple sizes. On this trip, I took the largest and smallest sizes.
