When you’re in Las Vegas with your family, the Blue Man Group is an absolute must-see kid-friendly experience. We recently had the privilege of experiencing their performance with the VIP package at the one-of-a-kind Blue Man Theater at the Luxor Hotel and it was a truly unique and unforgettable experience, easily ranking as our second favorite kid-friendly show in Las Vegas.
Here’s everything you need to know about our experience packed into one Blue Man Group Las Vegas VIP review.
VIP Package Details and Cost
We went for the VIP package, which costs $220 per ticket. There are cheaper options outside of the VIP packages, depending on where you want to sit, including premium seats and regular packages for different budgets. In addition to VIP seating, the theater offers premium seating, poncho seats for those who want to be close to the action, and regular seats.
Keep an eye out for money-saving offers and ticket availability for special occasions.
The VIP experience included a complimentary drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and a snack like popcorn, candy, M&Ms, peanut M&Ms, or Reese’s Pieces, creating a fun movie theater vibe.
VIP Entrance and Seating
The VIP package also provided a separate entrance. While there wasn’t a line at the regular entrance when we went, this would be helpful on a busy night.
As soon as we arrived, we were taken to our seats, which were cushioned and spaced comfortably apart. The premium seating offered great views of the stage and made us feel like part of the team, which made for a fun experience all the way around. I’m not sure if all VIP seats are on the aisle, but our seats were, which was a nice touch.
Meeting the Blue Men
A highlight of the VIP experience was the private meet-and-greet with the Blue Men after the show. We were whisked away before anyone else left and taken backstage. There, we saw the costume department and learned about the Blue Man Group’s history.
Founded by Matt Goldman, Chris Wink, and Phil Stanton, the Blue Man Group has performed for 31 years, starting in New York City.
They have regular shows in cities like New York, Las Vegas, and Chicago, plus touring performances. The Vegas show features seven Blue Men, soon to be eight, who rotate through various characters.
We got to ask questions, take pictures, and get autographs. One of them smudged some blue to make for a unique signature which was fun. The Blue Men even put tape over their signatures on our VIP lanyards to keep them as lifelong souvenirs. It was a very different meet and greet experience than I had experienced prior. I think it was one of the best!
The Performance
The Blue Man Group show was a surreal, entertaining, and engaging act. It is suitable for children three years and above, making it a great family-friendly event. Ranking it second among the three shows we saw in Vegas—Tournament of Kings was third, and Cirque du Soleil O was first—it stood out for its uniqueness and fun audience engagement.
The cast members played many unique instruments, and a small band played at times when the musical focus of the show was on them. The show was full of audience participation, and the Blue Men didn’t speak, which made it fun to follow along with their actions. If you go, pay plenty of attention to the cast so that you can follow the storyline.
The storyline, portraying the Blue Men as aliens discovering Earth, was hilarious and engaging. There were some interesting aspects of the show, from playing “pudgy bunny” with marshmallows to pulling the breaker (a moment that momentarily scared my son), and their childlike fun kept the entire audience made up of people of all ages engaged throughout the show. They included some improvisation, such as when they paused a skit my husband was participating in due to latecomers, turning it into a comedic bit.
Audience members were frequently invited on stage to participate in activities, which added even more fun to the show. My husband even had a close call with a target-holding skit, which was cleverly paused and turned into a joke.
Another scene involved two audience members on stage participating in various acts. What made it even more entertaining was that since the Blue Men didn’t talk, the audience members had to guess what to do next.
Overall Impression
Our kids loved the Blue Man Group show, which was an all around fun experience, and a truly one of a kind experience. My one son said it was his favorite, and the other ranked it second among the kid-friendly shows we saw in Vegas. The mix of music, humor, and audience interaction made it a fantastic experience. I recommend checking out one of the Blue Man Group performances during your next trip to Las Vegas.
